    Default Copperband Question

I'm picking up a copperband today and will be putting it into my tank. My question is should I put him into my propagation tank (50 gal) for a week or so before putting him in with the other fish that will most likely want to pick on him at first. They don't go out to kill just territorial issues (yellow tang, and regal tang). Usually the yellow tang is the most aggresive for a day or so.

Just curious thinking that if I put him out there for a week or two he can get somewhat over the stress of the shipping and then move him to the main tank after he's settled down.

What do you all think. BTW, the system is plumbed into the main system so water chemistry will be identical for the move later. And before you ask, no I have no quarantine tank so throw your flames if you want, but 90% of us don't.

I put mine directly in the main tank. He was chased by my Powder Blue for several days, hiding behind the rock and 'running scared'. When the PB finally let up, the Copperband was fine. If your Copperband was just shipped in, I would probably put him in the prop tank and get him eating before subjecting him to the tangs in the main tank. Mine eats PE Mysis, mussels, and little neck clams. HTH.

I'd put him in the prop tank. They are hard to get thru the first few weeks, and not stressing him/her with other tankmates right away could be the difference between success or not.

I remembered reading that one yesterday. Still amazed that a CB would to that to any tang, they are usually very timid fish. At least the ones I've attempted in the past were. Mainly the reason I was asking and I seem to be getting the same thoughts that I had back. Giving it time to get over the whole shipping thing, start eating, bulk up and a good workout before putting it in with the new tank mates. Maybe I'll call him Rocky and then add him to the tank.
