Default Seachem test kits group order

I came across a good price on the Seachem Calcium, Alkalinity and Magnesium kits and wanted to know if anyone was interested. I was talking to GaryP and he has been using these kits for ages and said they were just as good if not better than Salifert.

Let me know if anyone is interested.

    Calcium (150 tests) - $27.00

    Alkalinity & Ph (75 tests) - $27.00

Magnesium, Carbonate and Borate (50 tests) - $32.00

If you are paying w/ paypal please add the 4%.

I can ship to someone in San Antonio if they would be willing to distribute the kits.

I had a problem with the Seachem Alk test kit - brand new. It was reading 1/2 of the correct value. They sent me out some new reagents VERY quickly and free of charge. I loved the fact that they acknowledged the problem and fixed it. While I prefer the Salifert kits, the really cool thing about Seachem is that they also include known samples to test the reagents! That's how I found the problem.

Like Monica said, I have used the calcium kit ever since I got one with a used tank I acquired 4 yrs. ago. I have tested it side by side with Salifert and it give similar readings. The Seachem also has a calibration standard that comes in handy when you are questioning the results you are getting from the kit. You also get more tests from it then you do the Salifert kit so its more cost effective. The other thing I like about them is they are more available. They don't go on back order like Salifert seems to always do.

I don't have anything against the Salifert kit. Its a good kit, but I think the Seachem is just as good in quality and better in price. I also like the way they group the kits such as the pH/alkalinity, and nitrate/nitrite kit. Their pH, alkalinity, ammonia, nitrate, nitrite combo kit is a good one for folks just getting started.

This would be a good opportunity for some of you to upgrade your test kits from the "low, medium, high" kits that always pop up in the water chemistry Q&A threads. Also, a good opportunity for those of you that don't have a complete set of kits. How many times have we seen a thread that starts off with my calcium is high, but never mentions where their alkalinity is because they don't have a kit? Or how many times have you seen a post by me asking what their magnesium level is when a tank is out of balance?

I test my calcium weekly and the Seachem kit gives me almost 3 years worth of tests (150 tests) for a little more then I pay for the Salifert Kit. Ordinarily a kit that old might be a problem but since it comes with a calibration standard, its not in this case. One othter advantage of the kit is that it comes in the little plastic lunch box type container. I have found these to be very useful for storing spare parts and spare test kit stuff. One of them is in the process of becoming my "coral frag kit."
