question-how much are two 3.5-4 inch purple tangs worth?

It depends on where you are. If they are healthy, fat purple tangs, it might pay to sell them to one of the lfs's. They are not cheap at 4 inches. Check the on-line stores and then add the shipping to it for a fair price if you sell to an individual.

I payed about $80 for a purple tang from a local fish store. It was about 2.5 to 3".

You have 2 purples that tolerate each other? If that is the case then I would say that they are worth a whole lot more than your normal fat and happy 4" purple tang. I have a 4" and he is my favorite fish. Love it when he swims side by side with a similiar sized Yellow Tang. Too bad yellow tangs don't have purple tail and purple pectoral fins(negative of the purple).

I gave 85 for my purple 3.5" a year or so ago.
