    Default test kits

Can test kits go bad? I got some free back in october and now I think they may be giving bad results. I tested my new tank which has been setup for about 4 weeks and I just added new fish yesterday. This morning the results show .24ppm, so I tested my reef tank which is almost a year old with 100 pounds of lr, protein skimmer, fuge, etc. I have not added anything beyond coral for the last 3 months. Both test showed the same amount of ammonia. I find that very hard to believe. I checked the reef for any dead critters and nothing is out of normal. What is the best brand of test? Also what is better the dry reagents or the liquid test?

Yes, test kits can go bad. If I were you, I would test your water with your kits, then take a sample of water to a LFS and have them test it. They usually have nicer kits that are new.
