Thread: Re-placement of Clark Clowns?

    Default Re-placement of Clark Clowns?

Now that my Clark clowns have been out of the main tank for several weeks, what do you guys think about me putting them back? They are hosting in a leather. Do you think since they are hosting it will make them more or less aggressive? Really never had a problem with the male, but the female could be a bit of a bully. Trying to pull them out of the 75 again would not be my first idea for an afternoon! <_< Although, I was thinking of re-arranging some of the rock. Not really looking forward to that either, but it would give me a chance to thin out my garden...er..tank! <_<

They are in a 10 gal now. I had planned to move them to a 30 gal soon, but would rather save the 30 for my seahorses. (actually would rather have a cube for the seahorses, but that's another subject.)

Another concern is stocking. Presently in 75 tank:

    Foxface Lo
    Saddleback Butterfly
    2 Occ Clowns
    Mandarin Goby

    Planned to add:

Lawn Mower Blenny (already purchased, but not added)
Conch (already purchased, but not added)
Coral Beauty and/or Purple Tang (considering)
    Flame Hawk (considering)
Clark clown pair (hopefully.. if they can behave themselves)
Randall's Goby (already purchased, but not added) and pistol shrimp (will definitely purchase later)--actually these 2 will probably go in the 10 gallon and then eventually to the 30 (or cube) with the seahorses.

This seems pretty heavily stocked to me, but I have seen that many of your tanks have lots of fish. Am I going to need a bigger tank? :blink

My heart says: Please say yes....please say yes.... :wub
My bank account says: Please say no...please say no :lol

I vote for a bigger tank. How about a 125?

Yeah, when I saw Gary's 125 I thought it seemed like the perfect size. So, what is the footprint of a 125? Would having a bigger tank cut down on the conflicts as well?

If I did a 125, I would obviously need lights (which I need now anyway), a stand, canopy, hang on fuge (hopefully),a larger skimmer and more powerheads. It would probably be nice to house these things in a sump underneath. Right now everything is in the one tank (or hanging on it). I'm thinking all of this will set me back a pretty penny. :(

I would sell the 75 (tank and glass lid only) and MAYBE the 30 gallon (tank and lid and pc lights) to get the 125.

How much $$ am I looking at to do this? I have around $200 at the moment plus whatever I would get for the tank(s) (how much do you think?)

I guess, really I would need to trade tanks with someone (at least partially) so that I can breakdown and setup again at the same time, plus I would need the money from the tanks before buying the 125.

Perhaps this is a predicament for another time. <_<

How close do you think I am to making this happen? Again, I wouldn't necessarily need halides just something for softies and LPS.

The footprint of a 125 gal. is 72 X 18 X 24". If you are going to move up, I would suggest a 180. Basically the same as a 125, but 6" wider.

Here is a good site to check the dimensions of various tanks.
