    Default HELP - line leak!

BA is not here and there is a leak at the pump fitting and is obviously leaking like crazy.

obviously very wet - what can we use to try to "plug" it up until BA gets home and actually knows what to do? will silicone work if it is wet???

No, silicone won't work. Pump is below the water level? Maybe just turn off the pump as long as he has other circulation pumps (powerheads).

Chances are the fitting just needs some teflon tape. Also, make sure that the diuscharge side of the pump isn't somehow plugged and causing water to be forced out of the fitting. Your thrid option is to use epoxy putty to seal the leak. Is it leaking on the suction or discharge side of the pumphead?

Try putting some teflon tape around the nipple on the pump. While you have it off, check to make sure there isn't anything blocking the line.
