Powerhead Q?

I will soon be putting SPS's in my 29gl. What kind of powerheads should I use. Also what is the best I can use. Also how powerfull should they be? And how many? Also should I run them all the time or one at a time? What kind of wavemaker would be best for it? I also want to keep LSP and Softies. Would strong powerheads cause these guys a problem?

I have tried Tunze, Maxijets, Rios, Reagents, and a few other kinds that I can't remember the name to and so far Maxijets have been my favorite. I have not had any problems with them and they come with cool mounting kits (2 different mounting kits came with mine). You can even adjust the direction and even angle with parts the pump comes with (but not side to side). I also like the power ranges you can get with maxijets but all in all it is just personal preference.

i run this with 4 900s and 2 1200s in a 40g tank and "surfs up"!

Ive done those mod's on a 900 and a 600 that I have in the tank now. The only thing is that they are hitting my glass and causing my sand to kick up. My tank is to small for it. So I just waisted to powerheads.

you can rotate the outlet to direct the flow less on the wall and more to the center.

once you do the mods it makes it uni-directional so you have to move the whole unit.

You should put them on a wavemaker. They should not be powerful, or they'll dig a hole in the sand and rip the tissue of your corals. You should not put in too much Maxijet if heat's your problem.

mount them horizontal in the tank...my tank is 72" long so I don't think it will be digging anything.
