Have you tried a picture re-sizer?..or if you have windows, there are options when you open the background configurations..i think you can stretch it..or put is as a mosaic..I dont have windows so i dont remember..

LOL picture resizer. spoken like true.. well nvm :lol

open the picture up in MS paint. once its loaded, click image, then click attributes. note what the resolution is. odd resolutions (1180 x 900 for example) wont scale properly, especially w/ win98's native driver for vid cards (depending on what youre using actually).

anywho, change the resolution to more closely match the resolution of your monitor (ie mine is 1280 x 1024. yours is probably something like 800x600 or 1024 x 768).

now, try and use the image as a background. use the option to center it. if all else fails, you can try tile, and it may come out decently.

    Default 98

Go to Display in your control panel and go to background then pick your pic, it will give you options as was stated before and pick the option to stretch to fit or full screen,,,,,,your done.....

subber, sometimes stretching it, tiling it, ect ect will actually mess it up more or cause it to zoom in on certain sections. i speak from experience here. the only solution i found was to scale the picture down to the size of your current desktop

If you are still looking to get it resized smaller, I have used this freeware picture resizer .

Pretty small and easy to use.
