    Default Unknown Tank Problem

I have no idea what is wrong with my tank, I have a 5 gal nano that's been up and running for about a month. I've added some coral here and there and they've been completley fine, then i added Xenia and it died within a couple days. Two days ago I added a electric flame scallop and when I came home yesterday night it was dead, and had one of my nassarius snail inside of it. I don't think it died because of the snail but then again the when I added my feather duster, my nassarius was trying to get inside of it. Could a bristle worm be the culperate, my dosing with reef chem plus, I have no clue where to begin, last time I tested my parameters my alkalinity and calcium, ammonia, ph, nitrites and nitrates were fine. Is there something I'm failing to monitor or notice? (Or mabye I have a al-qaeda snail...hehe)

well...first the Xenia probaly died just because they don't travel well. Although they are very hardy once established they have to be carefully packaged and acclimated.

the flame scallop which sadly are sold just about everywhere, rarely do well in the home aquarium. There is not enough known about them to properly house them long time...the biggest thing is what they eat in the wild...the snail just started eating once the "death smell" started coming from the dieng scallop....nassaruis have an outstanding sense of smell....within seconds of me feeding my fish the snails eerily rise out of my sandbed to find the food.

So I wouldn't worry about your nano as long as your parameters are good as you stated.

I second that...the snails are just cleaning up. Monitor your temp throughout the day. Make sure its not swinging more that 2 degrees between day and night..or at all if possible. Temp swings are killer on these small systems. Also, everything you've mentioned are filter feeders...not sure that has anything to do with it just an interesting observation.
