i've had a batch of salt water aging on the front porch for several days. when i went to check on it this morning( intending to use it today) it had a funky gray film on top. it has been circulating well, and is in a brand new Brute trash can that i have used several times before for WC's. i recently switched my mixing pump to a rio 2100, rather than the old hagen 800, it works much better. the rio had been running a fountain in the pond, but the film doesn't look like pond funk, i wonder if it could be some sort of oil from the pump? it seems to stay on top. i'd rather not have to dump this whole batch of water, what would you do? maybe only siphon it most of the way down without disturbing the film? i remember this coming up some months back, but don't remember the discussion.
