major problem!!

this morning when we got up the tank was very cloudy, you can't even see 12" into the tank! i don't know what the cause is. my anamones are deflated, but not melted. maybe one of them "purged" ? i've never had this happen, so i really don't know if that would be this bad. i do have a large bta, it's about 10" when fully inflated, and he hasn't been completely happy lately, just a little deflated the past couple of days. does any one have any ideas as to what other causes to look for ? of course i will be doing a large water change today( and probably tomorrow, and maybe the day after :unsure , but i have to wait till the pet store opens, because i didn't have any water stored up, and there's no way my rodi unit is going to keep up. it's barely keeping up with the top-off since i set the skimmer so wet. any recomendations would be much appreciated, i'm pretty much in a panic, nothing this drastic has ever happened to my tank before, i'm afraid i'll probably have at least some losses.

ohyeah, i also ripped the magnum 350 off my GF's freshy tank , put new carbon in, and put it on the reef( looks more like a mud puddle right now.)

yellow- green, that's funny, i was just going to come and add that! i think it may have been a haimeida crash. what should i do other than what i'm already doing? maybe phosphate remover?

possibly a massive bacteria bloom? either way, you need to get some water changes going. Have you tested your water to make sure there is no ammonia? I think that will determine the importance of a large water change. Chances are if the levels are all ok you can just do one or 2 decent water changes and what's left will clear up on it's own.

I wouldn;t mess with a Phosphate remover as a band-aid, more things could go wrong that right.

Water changes, and run all the carbon you can! Mechanical filtration (floss) probably won't help much. How big is the tank? I would get 2-3 25% water changes done over the next 24-48 hours if that's possible.

Are you running high Ca or Alk levels? Have you checked PH lately?

But did turn out to be a calerpa going sexual/die off. Nothing in the tank died off

things aren't looking too bad. the tank is slowly clearing, and i'm preparing to change 20G. it's a 120G tank. i'll probably do another tomorrow. had to run to town to get water, carbon, and a new ammonia test kit. haven't checked ammonia yet, but calcium is really low(250), i've been trying to get my alk up lately, and had a large stand of halimeida. i think maybe between the two, i've depleted the calcium, and caused the halimeida to crash. i noticed a little of it was turning white yesterday, and meant to check my calcium, but somehow got distracted. i guess this is the price to pay.
