    Default Skimmers

I am thinking about buying a new skimmer. I am currently using a prizm that I have modified. (tons of problems getting it set, too wet, too dry, never right, so I modified it and now I get decent skimmate)

I am looking at either an aquamedic turboflotor.... rated for 25 to 250 gal

Or a Euroreef CS5-3.... rated for 90 gal

I would like to get a bigger Euroreef, but with it being Xmas, my wife will only allow me to spend $250....

My tank is a 110 gal 3-5in sandbed lots of softies, some lps and a few sps one clam.
fish - purple tang, 3 green chromis, bicolor psuedochromis, lyretail damsel, clarkii clownfish, sailfin blenny sixline wrasse, cleaner shrimp, CBS, and a good cleanup crew.
    50 gal sump with wet/dry
55 gal fuge with 3in sandbed, cheato and calupera
    Lights 2X400 watt 15k - 440 vho

I don't really have any problems, I think my tank is healthy, I just want to upgrade my skimmer, my only problem is not enough money for corals :roll any suggestions?

    Thanks for the help

Or you can go to h2otropicals.com and get a euroreef blemished one that is pretty cheap. I am thinking of getting a 5-24 for my 60g and it is 199.00. here is a link to help. I would also talk to Pete about building one as well. http://commerce2.i2net.com/able5stor...ategory_ID=548

i am in a similar situation with my 100g

either have pete build you one or check into the ASM skimmers, they are allegedly identical to the euro-reefs aside from the acrylic but quite a bit cheaper.

drop cliff (brewercm) a line, he just picked up an ASM and loves it

Try this site if you want to check the pricing for one the size you are looking for. I have been very impressed with the asm g3 that I'm running. I also very much like the becket skimmers, I've just found that the needle wheel pump skimmers use much smaller rated pumps(less cost to run) and the pumps themselves cost less than a good pressure rated pump for the becket skimmer, plus less adjustments required. Oh and the asm, euroreef, turbofloater come with the pump included.

There are many other online sites carrying these now like premiumaquatics also. I just like this site because of all the parts you can buy seperately and the prices are as cheap as any.
