RO/DI ?

anyone using a booster pump on your ro/di system.

i'm thinking of gettting one like the

aquatec 8800 booster pump. i'm currently using the same ro/di for my tank and drinking water. using di water just for the tank.

with the new tank up. i'm gonna be needing a lot more water for water changes then what i can make with the current ro system. it is rated for 120g per day. but i'm getting about 60g in 24hrs. i'd like to get it up closer to the rate/day.

i'm thinking of putting the booster pump on a dedicated ro/di. to have a lot more water avaliable quicker with out having to store 55g. drums all with the exception of premixed saltwater.

the booster pump is also spose to make the system more efficient. producing less waste water.

if your running one, where did you get it? local or internet and what did it cost you? any issues with it? are you using a ro/di pump or just a pump from hd or lowes with the adapted fittings?

Was it producing 120g per day when you originally bought it? If it has decreased that much, your filters and possibly your membrane could be getting clogged up. Mine took a dive not too long ago and would barely trickle out water. I changed all the filters and membrane and it works like a champ now I know with our 'superior water' down here, the membranes can clog up in no time.

Sure you can't have a water storage somewhere in the house/apt? It makes things so much easier when you do not have to wait to 'make' water. I have a Brute trash can I use for my top off and water storage.

i've changed all the membranes and what not. but production is based on water pressure. i have never been able to get the 120g a day out of the system. it's always been around the 65-70. and when your trying to fill a new tank. it's painful watching the water come out of the system.

Those rates that they use for output rely on a couple of things being perfect. From what I remember the water temp has to be at a specified temp, and the water pressure has to be specific to reach that 125 gpd. Not too many meet the requirements to reach peak production but a booster pump will most likely help your situation.

Do you happen to have a gauge on the inlet side of your RO/DI unit, it says that these booster pumps are best if pressure drops below 40psi.
