I actually had a blast buying a car from the guys and gals over at Cavender Toyota!! This is how it went.
We pulled in a a salesman casually walked up to us and asked us what he could do for us.
(First difference form all the other places, he was actually curtious and didn't trip and fall over every single car in his rush to get in our faces and annoy us)
We told him we wanted to look at and test drive the Rav4's. He THEN introduced himself. (Lorenzo). He told us which ones they had in stock. Plain and simple, this is what we have. No, "well have you seen the 4runners, or this one over here is really a better car." Just "this is what we have right now."
Our first sigh of relief...is this guy going to actually treat us like adults who are capable of making decisions ourselves???!!!
He then went and got all the keys, and drove us around the lot to show us which ones he had in stock. During the drive, he never said a word (except for politely answering all my silly girly babble questions...lol). No pressure, no greasy salesman breathing down your back the whole time.
Then I told him which Rav4 I wanted to test drive and that I wanted to drive the Matrix too (they were parked next to each other and the Matrix I swear is bigger....lol)
Easy enough. He goes and gets the keys and comes back.
Still no pressure, no hassle. Plain and simple.
This whole time and even throughout the test drives, he's very polite. He tells me what each car has (no gimicks just this is it...)
For example, (obviously he didnt seriously say this Im just making a point):
Lorenzo:This is a window.
Salesman at other place: This is the best window ever made on the market. No seriously, watch this. It rolls up .....and then goes down...ALL WITH THE PUSH OF A BUTTON!! Just imagine what you could do with this baby! You could dry your hair, your dogs willl love it, makes picking up fast food a breeze!
OK Ive made my point...lol.
After the test drives he walked away, and let Brian and I talk about it. But he did not announce he was going to walk away, he just goes and puts the keys away. No pressure, no hassle. We could have left the lot right then. But obviously we didn't.
He comes back and we tell him we want the Matrix. He then calmly says OK and asks us if we are ready to start on the paperwork.
We do all the necessary evils of filling out our entire life history. What is different once again is that instead of asking me to write down my social security number to access my previous car loan he calls my loan holder and when the time comes hands me the phone and asks me to punch in my social. I hate giving out my social so this really impressed me.
Ok so now the finance guy is ready to see us. We walk in and are greeted by a big jolly man. He too is very polite, and quite a bit more talkative. :lol Gives us our options, we choose and viola we're done.
Or so we thought. Lorenzo takes us back out front and explains all the manual stuff (security systems, keys, manual, etc). Then a mangager comes over, gives us his card, and tells us if we need anything to give him a call.
So currently we are sitting on 3 contacts if we need anything (Lorenzo, the finance guy, and the manager). Then I ask Lorenzo if he will go over all the features of the car with me again, when we are actually in the car and sure enough he does (basically the security system was over my head and I needed him to show it to me).
So on the way out to the car, the maintenance guy that just did its final check comes up and congtratulates us on our new car. Seriously, even the parts guys rock!
So we take her home.
This morning I called the parts dept b/c I wanted to order some accessories for the car. Once again, super polite and will have them there by 10am tomorrow. (I even get a discount b/c I bought the car there).
Overall, they were great to work with. I dont have a SINGLE complaint!! and that is saying something since buying cars is usually an ordeal at best.
Ok Im done! I swear...lol
