i will be going out of town for a couple of days and i am looking at getting an automatic feeder. does anyone have any suggestions or comments. also, is it even possible to get a feeder that will put out any other food than flake food?

I'd say people work the best...

If gone for only a couple of days, your tank should ok not being fed. My concern is always water top offs when I go out of town. Like akm wrote, people are best, however, I have used the auto feeders with flake food in my FW tanks with success.
Test your automatic feeder before you trust them, some jam up so a test would be prudent and all the ones I have seen are for flake food only. If you have a well established tank and small fish a few days withouth feeding should not be too bad for your fish. People would be best, a trusted friend or neighbor would be best.
