Ok, I just had a brain fart - let me know what y'all think :unsure
My SPA is empty, it is about a 380g capacity Spa, I should be able to determine the amount of water by how much salt is needed to get it to 1.025. That combined with my two 55g barrels I use for a "typical" water change gets me to 480g - enough for two 50% water changes.
I'm thinking I can get a pond liner and put it in the spa so I don't get any chlorine residue, etc. Also, since the spa is outside (with a cover) the water temp should stay about right too![]()
Stupid idea? Be honest!
Hey ... its sitting there empty ... start filling!!

Hey Steve, have you checked the day time temps lately? :sick
I'd do it inside or wait until the temps cool down. It will be way over 78 degrees is my guess.
Another option is to do it in your garage and leave the door to the house open to it for a week. Not cheap, but works and keeps the house less packed.

Killed my first coral in 1991, have tried to do better since. Always tricky.
LOL! You're gonna have to change your sig to
keeper of the MAAST cart and MAAST spa...lol
I swear if Brian comes home and wants a spa, it better not be for water changes!!
Seriously, it sounds like a good idea. The only problem I see is that you're going to have to add the salt slowly to the spa. If not the salt is gonna sink and collect in the folds of the pond liner then you'll be sitting there for hours with pumps trying to get it out of all the crevices. Temp is going to be a problem too like Todd mentioned. Can you move the spa into the garage?..or is that a silly question? You boys dirty up garages so fast...lol.
We've got a couple large (I think they are like 66g each) trashcans too if you need them, and we live right around the corner so let us know if you need them or any other help. You might be able to talk Brian out of his monster RO/DI for a couple days too. Good luck!

Steve, last month Tractor Supply in Boerne had 100 gallon rubbermaid stock tanks for $70 bucks and 150 gallon stock tanks for $100. You may want to give them a call to make sure they still have them in stock since it may be seasonal.
