    Default Almost there.....(Pics Added)

WELLLLLLL......I got half the new plumbing done tonight.

Got the 1" and the 3/4" bulkheads drilled into the sump/fuge for the return and the skimmer. Plumbed in the skimmer and the return with the scwd, etc.....(well it's all dry fitted and not glued right now)

Got to go to home depot tomorrow and buy more parts! LOL
wife said she isn't standing in the plumbing isle again! LOL :lol

All I have to do now is plumb the return from the skimmer and the drain.

This project has turned out to be WAY more than I intended it to! (they always do...)

So far: I got the tank, fuge/sump, stand/canopy, odds and ends from Tim (his corner tank) and here is what I've done to date.

Stripped, sanded, stained, and added new hardware to the stand and canopy.
Soaked tank in Viniger and spent countless hours scrubbing old coraline out of the tank. (so I could sand out the sratches)
Drove tank down to SA and Pete fixed a seam for me.
Pulled all old silicone out, will reseal with Weld On 16 instead.
Sanded and buffed out scratches from the acrylic to look like glass again. (waiting on another kit to finish this but looks AWESOME so far)
Cut out center between fuge/sump and added three baffels for a bubble trap.
Drilled 3/4" holes and added bulkheads to the tank for the closed loop.
Bought pump (IWAKI, was rusted). Took pump apart, got wire brush and drill and cleaned off ALL the rust and also managed to scrub the rust off my arm with the wire brush along with the skin. Painted with rust proof paint (pump, not my arm), put back to gether and gave a good cleaning to, runs like brand new. (Thanks Alex!)
Installed a RO/DI unit under my sink awaiting for my tank to actually come IN the house but the ice and water from the fridge taste awesome, LOL
Drilled the two bulkheads into the sump/fuge. Ran plumbing for "IN" of skimmer, Ran plumbing for return pump, scwd, closed loop, etc.

    Still left to do:
    Seal all bulkheads
    Glue all plumbing
    Finish Acrylic sanding/polishing
    Run return plumbing from skimmer
    Layin pond liner throughout stand.
Seal tank with Weld On 16

    Going to do:
    rebuild canopy

Everything looks brand new now! Dang looking at it this way, this was a LOT! LOL My neighbor keeps asking me if I'm finished with it yet. He looked at the plumbing tonight and was cracking jokes that there was more pluming in my stand than in is home! LOL

I've documented the entire process with pictures and will post when done!
So close....can almost feel the frags........

    LOL

    I'm enjoying it though! :lol

Cool Cool Pilot I can't wait to see the pictures and the write up... I know I spent from May to August slowly buying parts and supplies to build my current setup (still am :innocent ) It sucks waiting but its well worth it. Then again I had a smaller tank running but did not have much luck due to me not keeping as good attention as i would to it. Now with my new setup its a breeze due to my patience on building everything right and learning so much in the mean time. Good luck with the rest of the plumbing!!!! :shades :angel

that's a really good idea, to put pondliner in your stand! i wish i had done that when i moved recently. i guess it wouldn't be too much trouble just to pull out the sump. do you just run it up the sides a couple of inches, and fold it at the corners to make a little tub?

I lined the floor with it, then the back and side walls all the way from the top to the bottom. Makes Salt Creep cleanup easier adn you worry less about spills and small leaks. Not to say you dont' worry about it, but gives me anyways some added comfort.

Also going to put down a huge peice over the carpet to put the stand on. It will be hiddle by the couches but will protect the carpet.

I'm not making another trip to Lowes for at least a few hours.....well they are closed, so until tomorrow! LOL

Got all the plumbing in and glued but out of all my 50 left over peices I am missing one small threaded coupling so I've got to make one more trip for a 59cent peice....dang it.

OH well....will post some pics soon! LOL
