Thread: plate coral attacking button polyps ??

Default plate coral attacking button polyps ??

I added a green plate coral about 3-4 weeks ago to my tank. I had several small colonies of green button polyps in the area next to it. Its not directly touching them, but with in a few inches of them once its fully opened. one colony closed up about a week ago and still hasn't opened up. I moved it to my new tank yesterday, but its still closed. Today another rock on the other side has few button polyps on it that started doing the same thing. The odd thing is that the same rock has some zoos on it that look fine.
Do plate corals release any chimicals that attack other corals? and are button polyps more sensitive than zoos? I just added some activated carbon to the tank. Hopefully that will help. None of the other corals seem bothered. any ideas?
