If you want the crab "pushin' up the daisys" just dip the coral. If you want to keep it alive, get a container (bowl) of SW from your tank, hold the coral over the bowl so the crab will have a place to go until you decide what you want to do with it, and use a wooden skewer to herd it out of the coral. The skewers work great b/c they get down into all the places a finger can't. It may take a little patience though, as the crabs are generally not to keen on leaving the coral. :roll :lol

No such thing as a crab that is not reef safe. I have quite a few of the bad crabs living in my fuge and they are doing an awesome job of keeping it clean. Once you have a place where they can't get into trouble they become good crabs.

Thankfully, I've never had to "dispose" of any critters like that (except for acro mites - NO mercy :lol ) as I've always had a tank to relocate the intruder to that didn't have corals. Some people may not have that option availb. to them, and I doubt seriously a LFS would want to take unwanted Gorilla crabs, etc.

Thunderkat - it's cool putting them in your 'fuge as long as you aren't planning on ever having a decent 'pod population - remember, crabs are very opportunistic and will clear your 'fuge of any 'pods. The only clean up type critter I'll allow in my 'fuge are snails and bristleworms.

Yes there is such a thing as a reef safe crab. True acro crabs are 100% reef safe..
