Montipora Eating Nudibranchs

Does anybody have any experience with Montipora Eating Nudi. What fish would you recommend to kill them?

I have read several threads about this on RC and with most fish it is just a guessing game on if it will go for the nudi or not.

Maybe some butterflies or wrasses? I do have shrimp and crabs that I don't want eaten.

Adam, I'm watching this closely! I overheard you talking about this at Pete's but never got back to you to duscuss. I am fairly certain that I have the same little pests in my SPS tank that did in two of my plating digis, but they sem to have decreased in population recently??

Anyway, very interested in responses or anything you have success with.

Not nearly as bad as the Acro eating nudis that are now in some tanks! We need to keep those out of Texas!

Steve, you should find a dip treatment before you move any of your frags to someone elses tank.

Todd, I dip EVERYTHING in or out of the tank in ReefChem ... STRONG ReefChem!

About 2 months ago the two digi "caps" (I don't really think they are caps) that seemed to be getting eaten were taken out and dipped. One didn't make it, the other is geting better now. When I see these little fuzzies on something I take it out & Dip - ReefChem seems to knock them off pretty effectively. Honestly, I wasn't sure if they were crawlies or just a fungus growth of somekind, they are really tiny. And they only seem to have been on these two pieces, maybe a little around some of my branching Digi's, but not much. These two pieces are what I call "Platting Digis?" - same polyp structure as a true branching digi, but in a flat or cup shaped structure, very slow growing compared to a real cap or branching digi.

I should know better by now. Every now and again I get lazy and don’t properly dip new additions.

It got me pretty good. I have lost a few big caps, several digi colonies and several frags that I had taken from those colonies.

I have been dipping, but keep finding more. I will try to get a few pics if my camera lets me.

One guy took all his montipora out of the tank to try to starve the nudis. The only bad part was the nudis started to eat his acros.:o

This has not happened to me yet (they still have some montipora in the tank) if I see anything happening to acros everything is getting pulled from the tank and getting a dip. What a PITA...... Never skip on dipping before going anywhere near your tank.

I need to get a few different fish and just keep my fingers crossed that the population will go down.

Gary I will bring a few to the meeting for Instar. Maybe he can find a reliable natural way to defeat these little buggers.
