Thread: Best Actinic Lighting?

    Default Best Actinic Lighting?

Ok, I just replaced bulbs for most of my lighting, and reworked my VHOs on my SPS tank, and you forget how good they look when they aren't worn out. So now I have a tank with each of the following Actinic suppliments:

    VHO URI Super Actinic
    SunPaq Dual Actinic PC
    CSL Actinic PC

Far & away ... and I mean FAR FAR FAR & away - the VHO Super Actinics produce the best lighting ... hands down.

A pitiful second place goes to the SunPaq Dual Actinics

I haven't used T5s, but if I can ever switch others out, it will be to VHOs!

    What's your experience?

I used VHO for years and they worked great. I am using the T-5's right now and don't think I'll switch back. Time will tell though.

So far I haven't found anything I like better than the URI VHO superactinics for the colors they bring out. Just my opinion.

well...since I was going to post about my t-5's in my own thread I guess I can start from here.

All I have to say Is WOW>>>WOW>>>WOW

after much research I decided to have a custom canopy built and I went with 16-54 watt t-5's

these things are incredible...it looks like halides without the shimmers...they are super bright...I cannot believe how underlit my tank was before.

The key with T-5's is the reflectors and the bulb selection...if you don't buy the better ones then yes you are throwing money away.

I bought my bulbs from reefgeek...they are expensive but worth it.

    They are called

    blue plus pluses /super actinics
    aquablues

ok enough talk how about some pics...bear with me on my close up shots I still can't fiqure out why my close ups come up blurry

Very nice DOn, I guess I will just need to see it in person on the 31st

I can't get a picture with my camera of the Actinics, I just get a picture of a big blue smudge :blink

16x54w T5s = 864w of Actinic :o Do you have to wear sun screen to feed the tank?
