Default Car fire 6-25-05 Firemen saw it 10 miles away

G'daughter was driving her dad's car and had a little problem Saturday. She was exiting and hit those deep grooves in the pavement, throwing her off the pavement, into the grass. There was no shoulder and the ground dropped down from the edge of the road. The car spun around several times and finally came to a stop. She got out of the car to look over any damage and collect her wits before driving any further. While she was accessing the damage the grass caught fire from the exhaust, which in turn caught the car on fire.

Thanks Pete. Just a little stiff still but we can deal with that.

Word of caution to anyone. If you need to stop on the DRY grass for any reason, turn off your ignition.

Amazing that after such a wild accident that it's a hot engine and dry grass that does the most damage. Glad no one was seriously hurt.

As hot and dry as it has been, I think I'll be standing out side my house on the 4th of July with all my water hoses going! Even though they are illegal here in S.A., it gets crazy with all the fireworks in my neighborhood! This will be a busy holiday for our firemen.

Wow, lucky girl ... Insurance replaces cars, but not Grand daughters! Glad she got out OK!
