Those of y'all running kalkwasser with the Tunze osmolators:

Do you have the output hose in tank/sump?

I've seen Roger state that many people have problems because the output of the pump hose is below the reserve reservoir. I forget if that was a siphon issues or what, but that means adding the make up water directly to the tank for me.

Issues with adding the kalkwasser directly there? I'd rather it come into my sump and be mixed much better before pumped to the main tank.

Yes it is indeed a siphon issue. I have mine going directing into my sump via the overflow. Hook it up to the overflow and you have your kalk going directly into the sump with no siphon issues.

Just make sure the end of the hose that outputs the makeup water isnt sticking IN the water... this will likely siphon wherever you put it!

I had mine going to my display tank for a while with no issues.
However, the sump method is best IMO for mixing reasons, etc.

Now it sounds like such a silly question.

Yeah, this seems like an pretty easy issue to me. Just have the output clamped to the side of your sump, so the level of the hose is well above the water level. It can't back-siphpon out of the sump if it isn't in the water. It is just a tiny bit more noisy this way because the water splashes down into the sump, but my return pump masks that pretty well.

I've been running mine this way since I got it with no problem.

Yeah I would just have it run into your overlow, you're mixing the best this way, and even with the tube out of the water, it could start a siphon if it was below the topoff lvl. And yes, it truly was a great movie.

Oh, you are talking about a forward siphon. I guess that could happen if your reservoir was high up somewhere. I wasn't thinking of that. My reservoir and sump are both on the bottom of the cabinet. It is impossible for it to forward siphon for me, sunce the pump is on the bottom of the reservoir.

Yea, I've got three levels, tank, resevoir/pump bottom, sump (tank at the top). But adding to the overflow just before the drop hadn't even occured to me. It indeed would be the best mixing.

It might need aiming adjustment, that pump can put out a stream.
