Thread: Ocean Runner Pumps are total JUNK

Default Ocean Runner Pumps are total JUNK

I got an Ocean Runner pump from Josh about a month ago, and it is a complete pile of junk. It clicks and clicks and makes more noise than any friggin pump I have ever had in my entire life. What a piece of crap. Also, I have it setup in a closed loop and the pumps front cover comes off with the lightest touch. Most recently (today) I came home to find that the pumps front cover had come off and half of my tanks water was on the floor and most of my corals fully out of the water. This pump has caused more damage and loss than anything I have encountered in this hobby. DONT EVER BUY ONE OF THESE PUMPS. I wouldnt even take one if I were paid to use it. TOTAL JUNK PUMP, LOW GRADE PIECE OF $%#@&*!.

OK now I need to go settle down before I have a heart attack. I need a good pump to replace this turd, I DONT CARE WHAT IT COST AS LONG AS IT IS QUIET AND RELIABLE.

As soon as I get some spare time I am going to get my video camera out and make all of you a nice video. I am going to take this pump outside, put on safety glasses, tell everyone to step back, and crush this pump to thousands of pieces with a sledge hammer. Sure the pump still moves water, but I will take the most tremendous satisfaction in smashing this piece of junk pump to pieces until you wouldnt even be able to tell what it used to be. Oh god that is going to feel great. Keep you eye out for the video.

THEY BLOW THEY BLOW THEY BLOW. or maybe I should say THEY SUCK THEY SUCK THEY SUCK. Well, after a while the really blow and suck. I checked it for crabs or snails and everything seemed fine. Maybe I am over looking something. I have heard good things about them, buyt in the heat of the moment when my tank was all over the floor I was tempted to throw it in the fire place and let it burn burn burn. It was quite the freak show at my place last night.

You might want to check the shaft of the impeller and make sure it is not warped, cracked or damaged in some way. The clicking sounds like the impeller is coming in contact with the housing or the plactic sleeve contecting the blades to the impeller has broken. Sometimes the damage is very hard to see but can be very audiable.

I agree w/Polkster sounds like the impeller shaft is broke or something, or something like a snail or rock in it! I would take it apart and clean it up w/vinegar before I did something I would regret! My wife has let me know that her most frequently spoken sentence is " No Donnie, No Donnie, No Donnie, ****IT Donnie, I can't believe you did it again!"
