I was almost ready to order all the glass I needed for a large tank when I found a great deal on a used 280. I was talking to this company and had prices emailed back to me. I was going for a 6" long, 3" front to back, 30" tall tank w/ diamante (low iron glass) in the front and back panels and eurobracing around the top. Minus shipping it was going to cost me about 800$ for all of the glass plus polished edges (easier to assemble, less silicone). Acrylic is also an option but the materials were going to cost more for the super thick stuff I needed. If you really want to go big you could do a fiberglass tank with a single acrylic viewing panel. I saw a 1000 gal made that way and it looks great for in wall installations. Even saw a guy on reefcentral that used carbon fiber w/ glass viewing panels -very sharp! I would try it if you are the adventursome type!!

Sea worlds 2 "reef" tanks are set up like that. A nice front view panel and a half circle fiberglass tank behind it. If I remember correctly they said each tank was like 400gallons.
