Ok I just bought a Quadlite from Brewercm, and now I have 4 times the light I had before. Im going from 24 watts of PC to 96 watts of PC. Whats the best way to go about adjusting to the new lighting? I was thinking about cutting down to 4 hours from 12, then adding an extra hour every couple days. Is this going to be ok?

    Thanks,

Can you increase the distance betwen the lights & the tank and lower them gradually? I think that would be better than a short photoperiod. Also, I have heard folks using several layers of widow screen (between the tank & lights) & removing one every few days - or eggcrate, just something to difuse the light.

Also, 96W isn't giving you 4X the "amount of light" than your old 24W, it's just costing 4X as much to run them
It is considerably more light (2X+), but not 4X.

I heard of an easy way...cheap too.. Get some eggcrate that will lay accross the top. Put your lights where they will be usually, Now cut out squares of cardboard just larger than ur corals and place them onto the eggcrate to create shade. You can trim the cardboard down or slide them over, over time, to acclimate your corals without bleaching them... HTH
