    Default Dyed Ritteri Anemone

First of all I had never heard of them dying a anenome! Thats messed up! Anyways from what I can find out so far going from the foot of the anenome that I have it is possibly a ritteri that has been dyed. Ok so question here is will this guy live? His tentacles are good and sticky and he looks pretty heathly so hoping he will survive. I read that they are very hard to keep and thats not the best thing for me :( but I do atleast have a pretty mature tank (4yrs maybe?) with good lighting. I have two 40W NO actnic that are on for 12hrs, one 10K 250W MH that is on for 10hrs and one 6500K 175w that is on for 6hrs a day all on a 55g tank. I am having good luck with sps corals and very good and stable water parameters so atleast maybe I have a fighting chance with this guy. Any suggestions on keeping a Ritteri anenome succesfully? Thanks for all the help so far!

What color is it? H. magnifica are supposed to often have alot of color on the foot. Purple is most common. Having a clown to host in them is supposed to help.

There is an LFS in San Antonio that used to sell a lot of dyed anemones. Their clientele is made up of a lot of less experienced SW folks and they got away with it. I don't go in there that much anymore so I'm not sure if they still do it or not. It seems like they have cleaned up their act on who they buy from so I would think not.

I also made the mistake of buying a dyed colt coral once when I was a rookie. Neither the anemone or the colt survived. I guess the moral of the story is to know what you are buying and if not ask a lot of questions. If you don't get good answers, take a pass on it.
