    Default Rose BTA

To any one with experience with rose BTA's, I have one than was perfectly happy for a while wher it was placed but noticed was very temputure concouse (sp) between 75 & 78 was filled out but outside these temp srunk almost to nothing. Now has moved from top of rock to space under bottom of rock ( no light) and for info I have a 48 Hex with a 4" LSB with about 55lbs of live rock and 2 compact lights, 1-10k and 1 atinc. Since it has moved it is now more than twice the size I have seen.
I thought and have read they need a lot of light. any thoughts or suggestion?

how many watts of PC do you have?
you probably need more to keep a BTA. that was my problem. I had two BTAs with 120 watts PC over a 37 gallon. They lived but barely. I replaced the lighting with a 150 HQI MH and now they are doing awesome. Your water levels also need to be at or close to zero to keep BTAs.

I have 2 65 watt pc's on a 65 hex, sounds like I need to switch to MH or will VHO or the new t-5 work, have not heard what is available in the t-5 line except my brother who is with a custom light co. says this will be the standard!!

Mine decided last night to move from under the rock by the overflow up the front of the rock. He seems to be getting right under one of the MH lights.

Mine just started walking again. arg! my tank isn't quite big enough for this guy to keep walking all over the place...! It probably doesn't help that I touched him when I was moving stuff around...

Thanks. It's liking the 150W Iwasaki (50,000K) though I bet a 250W bulb would be a little better on that deep of a tank with black sand (no reflection)
