    Default quarantine tank

alright, i have a fish in quarantine right now that i just bought, but i did not have the qt cycled beforehand, so i am just gonna try to keep it from cycling with water changes and such. the question i have is should i keep the HOB filter running or will stuff collect in there that will begin a cycle? also, i am doing about a 10% water change everyday while siphoning the tank clean. will this be enough to keep the tank clean for 3 weeks? thanks

Depends on lots of things; size tank, size fish, etc. If you are not using any medication, I'd put some live rock in there to help with the bio filtration. Was the water in this tank from an established system or new? Is there any media for bio filter? You can't answer this question without knowing this info. Unless you have a decent bio filtration set up, you could be doing your fish more harm than good. 10% changes will not do much; that leaves 90% of the waste in the tank.

well its a 10g tank and i had to set it up with all new saltwater and i didn't want to use any of the liverock from the main tank. main reason is that i am still not sure if the main tank is safe yet, i had a bad parasite outbreak about 3 weeks ago, and i read it can take up to 6 weeks for the free floating parasites to die off. well basically i use one of those gravel siphon things to siphon up any waste or leftover food, and i can usually get it all in a gallons worth, so then i just make a new gallon of saltwater and put that in. the filter is an aquaclear mini with a sponge and carbon bag. i also have an airstone and some fake rock for the fish to hide in. i wouldn't mind putting him in the main tank, but i just want to make sure the parasites are gone. it is a red scooter blenny btw, about 1-1.5 inches. thanks
