Never heard of them, and there's nothing on the oceanic site. Got a link to a description?

Berlin skimmers are okay, I suppose, for small systems, but they are WAY overated by the manufacturer in terms of capacity. 300 gallons skimmed effectively by one of these things? Probably not. On the plus side, there are lots of them floating around for sale used. They're made out of cheap plastic and prone to breakage, though, and not reputed to be easy to clean.

I went by Austin Aquariums today and they had a used one for sale for $75. I want to get a Berlin or something similar, but I dont have a lot to spend. Any info will help.

Oceanic 4 is a great skimmer! $75.00 is not bad I think it sold for about $299.00 ten years ago new. There was an Oceanic 6 also that was made. My Oceanic 4 is still iworking today!

Well, since all the big reefers are here, I'm setting up my clam tankwith sps's and I was wondering if a skimmer was necessary??? Would I need to run it all the time or just every now and then?? Should I jump on the monsterwagon or just a simple and cost effective model necessary???

I was suppossed to buy 007's Berlin Skimmer from him, but I have not been able to get ahold of him via email or pm. I might have to go buy that skimmer if I cant get ahold of him.

    Malofish,
Depending on how many clams you are thinking of keeping and their size? Clams are a GREAT filter/skimmer.

Well I do intend on keeping alot!!! This is gonna be my tank!!! I've gotten rid of all the other tanks to make this one perfect!! I should see the tank by the end of this week too!! It's gonna be around 100+ gallons, way underestimated!! I was thinking about going with a basic in sump skimmer vs. a monster cause I thought that clams would take care of that?? But am now thinking about using a 400 in the middle and 2-250's on each end with actinic supliment??
