    Default uncured rock

how much uncured live rock can i add to a 180 gallon tank and 80 gallon refugium, at a time. When i add my additional sump i was thinking of placing live rock in the botttom for filtration. what are your ideas on this. should i add some or just leave the sump empty.

if you need any other information i will try to help

Is the tank already established or is this a new tank you are setting up? If it is already established with livestock in it, you should try to cure the rock before adding. If you want to try adding uncured to an existing setup, you should do so very slowly as it will shock the tank and start a new cycling effect.

Is your tank up and running? If so, I would not add any uncured rock to it. Get a new trash can with a powerhead in it and cure it in there. You can also use another tank or a rubbermaid container. Cured live rock in the sump is a good idea depending upon how much you have in your tank and fuge. The filtering capabilities of your tank, if it established, will not be changed very much though as the bacteria responsible for breaking down ammonia and nitrites is in direct proportion to your bioload. You increase your bioload, the bacteria catch up. You decrease your bioload, some bacteria starve off and die.

my tank is around 11 months old, i have around 190 pounds of rock in my tank and some rubble in my refugium.
what about miracle mud, is this better than sand in a refugium or are they about the same and how much mud do i need for a 25 gallon fuge

my first sump (65 gallon and 25 fuge)has my protein skimmer, water top off, and ca reactor, i am running bioballs but i would like to start taking thease out. Theother sump and fuge i made just to help filter the water better, i made 3 compartments so i can try diffrent types of calurrpa or mabey clams, i am still new to salt water i just want to learn. i will eventually upgrade to a bigger tank, becasue i have learned plenty of donts in my first few months of salt water. like dont have carpet within 100 foot of a tank, and i need a house just to put all the fish stuff in with plenty of room.
