Default LOOKING FOR A NEW DIGITAL CAMERA

Hey all I was looking for a new digital camera to take pictures of my aquariums. I need something that can give me professional work at an 8x10 size. I have looked at the G5 but I hear that the G3 is just as good or better. What do you all know?
    Thanx for the help.

I don't know much about the G5 other than it's 5 megapixels. I have the G3 and love the pictures that it takes, an overall great camera. If you are planning on a lot of Macro shots you can't beat the Nikon products. One other that I would recommend would be the Sony DS-F717 that is an amazing camera. I just didn't like the barrel size when taking pictures but I believe the quality was a little better then the canon or nikon. Just my 2 cents worth. Check some of the camera review sites and they can give you a ton of information. My two favorites are dpreview and dcresource, but there are several others with good information on different brands and models.

I meant to metion a camera to look at if you're looking at Canon, the new A80. It has the same processor as the G3 from what I understand and a loaded with manual functions including add on lens capability with just a little less options like flash add on and a few others. It also runs a lot less money than the G3 if you can find it.

I have a Canon S30 and love it. I purchased the underwater case and can take it up to 100 FT under water, the best part about it is that I can upgrade to the Canon S50 and still use the same case. I've taken literally thousands of pictures with my Canon S30 and love it. My friend has the S50 and raves about it all the time. This is the best digital camera I've owned.

Some people complain about the rechargable battery over regular alkaline but I actually like having rechargable batteries then buying new batteries. I would suggest buying an additional battery like I did which will allow you to use one while the other recharges or have two fully charge in case you are taking many pictures. I also purchased a 512 MB CF card which gives me about 500 images, I also have (2) 128 MB cards as spares in case I run out of space.

    LOL

I haven't been able to come up with any good excuses to upgrade. The S30 is too good :-D .
