    Default should i keep the bioballs

    i just bought a used 10 gallon aquaclear wet dry from a friend for $50 and it came with a mess load of bioballs, i was wondering if i should use them or ditch them
    also im sticking it on my 20 tall i dont know if this will be a problem,or not seeing as it has a hang on overflow

    bioballs require regular maintence. They will become nitrate factories if they are not washed and cleaned. I would not recommend, I would prefer live rock rubble instead of the bioballs.

    The stars are really the same thing, they just have more surface area for bacterial growth as compared to bioballs.

    I did a recent artial on using bioballs in Seascope that is fairly introducing. I must say that their results are contrary to my experience but that was before I started using a DSB.
