    Default Maroon Bothering Clam

I have a maroon clown who thinks a big clam is an anemone or something. It has been biting the poor thing all day long in order for the clam to close up. Will this affect the clam to a point to where it can kill it? I am very new with clams and don't know if this will hurt it or will the clam just get use to it. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You should have a talk with your clown and show him these pictures:

LOL, either the clown is going to kill the clam or more likely, the clam is going to have a big snack!

Seriously though, it isn't good for the clam. May damage it to where other predetors pick on it and eventually kill it. It may just stress it to the point it weakens and dies also. Either try finding the clown an anemone to host in or remove it for awhile and hope it learns to play well with others.

Jim N had two clowns that played in his gigas. I bet they will get along, but Jim can give you input on how his started out.

That looks like a gigas clam to me? If the clown is actually bitting the clam's mantle to the point the clam stays close most of the time it will kill the clam! Also if the clown is just bothering the clam and he stays close it will kill the clam. IMO it is time to remove either the clown or the clam.

Thank you all, I just caught my marron! It is 4:55 a.m. and I had to use a flashlight because it was about to hide from me. Now this guy is going for some anger management classes at school. I know that at school it will receive lots of love. Thank you once again to all who answered this post.

Oliver the clam seems just about the same since you gave it to me but I am hoping for the best. About nice places here in town to purchase items I can only say we have two stores and from which one I have purchased items from. I wished I lived in Austin, SA or Houston were the options exist or the size of city allows for more hobbyist to trade and sell you items. Don't get me wrong, I am doing all that is in my power to tell people about things done up north but there are very few of us who have met each other. For example, this clam was given to me by Oliver who until recently I met and had the opportunity to visit. I hope this city continues to get more people involved in salt water tanks in order for us to enjoy it even more. Believe me when you come from some one's house and see what I have seen you get the love for this hobby energized. Sorry for the book report Triggerman I guess the answer to your question is yes, Oliver's tank.
