Question for the kalk drip guys. Do you let it drip 24/7? Looking at starting my drip at 1 per every 6 seconds and then adjust from there if i need more or less.

I try to but I have not found a way to get an even drip. It starts out great, then stops about half way through the container.

The issue is with clogging. As the tip is exposed to air, it starts to solidify and harden, causing the blockage. Most folks just add it to the ATO line so that it is diluted and pushed through the tubing via the ATO pump. I currently use a Tunze Kalk reactor thingy that pushes clean water through the reactor and into my return section. This protects my aqualifter motor from the damaging effects of the straight Kalk. Ironically, the return gets hit with the solution but the solution is also dissolved by the return into my system.

I add the kalk with a continuous pump. Use Kalk as top off water.

It was a wild collected coral I got for ever. It was about 20 years in captivity in my tank by the time I donated it. I got it from Aquarium City in Bellevue, Washington around 1997 . Sorry no name. It seem similar to Joe The Coral by ORA but not really.

The only concern i have with top off is i use a rio 600 as my ATO pump with a JBJ ATO so i was worried about hitting the tank with too much kalk during a top off?

I would get a Cole-Palmer lab grade adjustable rate pump and dose it 24/7. Mine run the same steady rate for years. Look on Ebay. They are perfect for Ca reactor too.

Ger one with a easy load pump heads that use multiple size tubing. That way you have a very wide range of volumes form a few cc per day to 50 gals per day.

Thanks man. It is a real beauty. I agree with you, its not really a Joe the Coral in my eyes. For me at least, Joe has some green in it. Your bad boy has none of that in it. Just a lot of magnificent blue coloring. The tips are a nice navy blue with a deep inner color.
