Do you think it's possible to just get a replacement at altex?

It depends, is the converter damaged or the power cord?

Yep. You just need one with the right voltage and correct barrel adapter. Almost any universal AC adapter would work. If Altex has them, then certainly. Make sure you match the voltage though, not sure what the MP adapter is.

Something like this: http://www.amazon.com/Hodely-Universal-Laptop-Notebook-Adapter/dp/B00406ITIA/

According to this thread (http://www.reefcentral.com/forums/showthread.php?t=2064979) and the info they supplied you need 24v with a 2.5mm barrel adapter, which almost all the universal adapters will come with. That's what so great about them, variable voltage so you can use it for whatever you need an a handful of various barrels to fit a slew of devices.
