Any reasoning that I can not convert an older RO/DI unit to use GFO/Carbon? I have an older 75gpd BRS 4 stage RO/DI unit that I don't use. Figured replace two of the canisters with carbon/GFO then re-route the plumbing to the two canisters.

Any reason I can't do this?

I also have a few clear canisters that are 20"x4" I could do the same thing.

Well basically the BRS Dual Reactor models are just RODI resin filters hooked up in series. I don't see any issues with it. Just make sure you get the plastic tubes that go inside them for holding material. You should be good to go.

agreed!

You could also really simplify it by using a fine mesh bag and directing the drain tube in your sump at the mesh bag. I recommend using only 1/4 of the recommended about of GFO to start. Doing this you will get the results you are looking for. Lower PO4 without the stress on the system. I've been using this method for years and it has worked well for me.

Before you inverst much in that, make sure the pump you use can adequately push water theyr the tube size and port size and fittings you plan to use.
