Also, a bit of a clarification as we've had a few questions about this. This year, it was decided by the BOD that all vendors would have a charter membership included with their table fees with an option to use their fees towards a sponsorship if they chose to do so. This would of course make them eligible to win these prizes. In addition, moderators are eligible for these prizes as they must first be charter members in good standing in order to moderate the forum. Board members and their families cannot win these prizes or the regular door prizes.

As a Charter Member myself, I have a few questions about this if I may ask.

Will the sponsors who are vending at this event be eligible to win these charter member door prizes?

Are all of the vendors updated on the site as either charter members or sponsors of the club?

Are the vendors that are businesses but not MAAST sponsors eligible to win these charter member door prizes?

Yes, as a sponsor they are entitled to all the benefits of a charter membership, with the added benefits from the sponsor title which includes a forum and sales privledges.

Yes, all members have recieved their cards and have been updated, minus one hobbyist who intends to sell at the Maast frag tank table but has chartered today.

Yes, during the July board meeting, it was brought up by the board that all those (including businesses) who pay the table fee can be granted a charter membership if they wish. This was due to the difficulty in verifying who was and who was not a buisness at the March swap. There are some restrictions on businesses in that they cannot advertise their stock (both wet and dry) on our site and they have been made aware of these restrictions.

Sponsors were eligible to purchase tickets and win the raffles at our March swap and actually, Hannah was one number off for the apex grand prize.

I was curious because there are 5 or 6 vendors on the list that are referred to solely as hobbyists which is curious to me that they are not listed as charter members or the businesses as sponsors. Those 5 or 6 choose not to be a charter member or sponsor but will be eligible to win the charter member door prizes?

The most updated list is the list on the LMAR tab. At that time, those vendors were still in the process of paying their fees and I'll be honest, I forgot to update the list since mid September. My apologies.

At this time, minus the new vendor, and the added vendors to the charter table, the LMAR tab is correct.

The list on the LMAR tab is inconclusive as to who is charter or sponsor or neither. Are all of the eligible vendors either sponsors or charter members?

With one exception that was handled privately that you were present for, and didn't raise any concerns with, yes. There was one vendor who forfeited their prize eligibility, paid their dues, and asked not for a charter title or benefits.

The prize eligibility is fairly new so I was just looking for clarification. Last one, are any of the charter members who are eligible vendors also commercial businesses or have they paid sponsorship dues?

Zack

There are current vendors who are charters (per the board meeting in July) but not sponsors. None of them have posted on our forum, and all are aware that due to their tax status as a buisness that they are prohibited from doing so outside of the discussion areas. We are, as of the July meeting which you were present for, offering these vendors a chance to use the $25 from their table fees towards a sponsorship.

You've mentioned my being apart of the decisions but the door prizes and eligibility thereof was not fully discussed at the time. Again, As a charter member myself I am just seeking clarification. Are those businesses also eligible for the charter member door prizes?

Zack
Wed, 28th Oct 2015, 07:48 PM
It was, as president at that time you agreed along with everyone present that we would grant them charter-ships which would of course come with the benefits of being eligible for the charter door prizes along with every other benefit.

Again, yes they are.

The agreement was to allow the $25 table fee apply to their sponsorship fee should they decide to sponsor the club. It had nothing to do with prize eligibility or granting a charter membership to a commercial business.

Thanks for the clarification.

OUCH!

Can we pay at the swap to become charter members for a chance to win those prizes or before hand?

Zack
Thu, 29th Oct 2015, 12:29 AM
Absolutely my friend.

We will be processing charters between now and then and we will also have the sign ups during the event although we may have to mail you your card later that next week.

OUCH!

What is the charter member ship fee?

Zack
Thu, 29th Oct 2015, 09:46 AM
The charter membership fee is $25/ year. We also offer a few different kinds of membership levels such as couples and family memberships. All are listed on the membership tab at the top of the forum :)

I was at the aquarium meeting, and I thought they said sellers would get a charter?

Individual sellers yes. Commercial Businesses no. One of the Charter Member perks is the ability to sell on the forum. If a commercial business sells on the forum they are required to be a sponsor. There is a contradiction there. Commercial businesses per the MAAST TOU and By Laws are not eligible for a Charter Membership. What was approved in the case of a commercial vendor at that BOD meeting was that the $25 could be applied towards a sponsorship should they desire to become a sponsor.

A small update, one non-sponsor commercial vendor cancelled their reservation to the swap due to a crash yesterday. We then asked the first member of our waiting list (who is also a commercial vendor) if they would like a table and they accepted. They then said they would consider the Sponsorship discount and would not like to receive the charter membership nor would they participate in the Charter member door prizes. I then called the other non-sponsor commercial vendor and they said they did not want to win the prizes that were exclusive to the charter members. They also said that they have no problem dropping their charter membership and considering the sponsorship fee.

Long story short:

Door Prizes: Eligible to anyone*
Charter Member Door Prizes: Eligible to only charter members and sponsors*

*except BOD

Per our by laws and TOU commercial businesses (retailers) are not eligible for Charter Membership.

I don't see where it mentions that they were offered it, but in case it wasn't clear, I'll make it clear. This vendor was not intetested in the charter benefits because they were more interested in the possibility of becoming a sponsor. The second vendor found out about this thread and said they didn't even plan to enter the drawing and would formally remove chartership.

As far as LMAR is concerned, this matter is over.
