I picked up this behemoth of a blue wrasse yesterday. Pic's don't do him justice. He's a brilliant blue with red and orange tips on his scales and red streeks in his tail. They had him labeled as a miscellaneous wrasse for 10 bucks. Any idea what type of wrasse he is? http://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/01/16/40bad66eb89baec16f1fe69e2d0c3645.jpghttp://tapatalk.imageshack.com/v2/15/01/16/4803a463520ae59969cc5fa67351d586.jpg

From the color in the pics and the markings I'm going to say ornate leopard wrasse. Was going to say it's a male blue star but the markings are shaped different on those.

Awesome! Greatly appreciated the feedback guys. I have a potters wrasse in the tank currently and those 2 have become best friends. Definitely some interesting characters.

Hey Mike. When you say "picked up" does that mean you collected him yourself or did you get him from a LFS. Either way, definitely a perk to HI living. One of many. Nice score! :)

I picked it up from a LFS. The ocean is a little too turbulent to try and collect right now. They are having all the big surf competitions right now to put it into perspective ha ha.

I'll have to look into shipping some back to your guys. Maybe get a small order together. They cycle through fish pretty quickly cause they are actually a distribution center. I can always put in request and they can hold them for a day or two when they get them in. Hard to predict.
