A bit about me:

I'm a recent Texas State San Marcos graduate with honors with a degree in Exercise Sports Science with an Emphasis in Physical Therapy, I'm engaged to my best friend to be married sometime in January 2016. After I graduated, I decided to take a year or two off of school to pay down my student loans, get married, and evaluate which schools I will be applying to.

I joined MAAST back in 2011 and have gone from a web member, charter member, moderator, and currently board member. I recently left my job as the manager of a retail store in the outlet mall, and currently I work for a home health agency with two clients. My job allows for a great flexibility as far as web access during the day, and my weekends are off unless I want to pickup additional hours. Currently I'm the board of director heading up the marketing committee and the task I've been focusing on most recently is marketing our sponsors to our membership through a weekly sit and talk with each sponsors. I've done some freelance marketing in the past and have a decent handle on graphics, and currently I'm designing the maast business cards and the maast posters for our sponsors to attract the newer members. I'm also not too shabby with iMovie although you didn't hear that from me. Being apart of every level of the club has given me a good perspective of how things work, and win or lose I'll be back in whatever position the MAAST members will have me for in 2015.

Thank you Zach and Chris for the nomination. I accept.

For those who do not know me I would like to give you some information on myself as well as a few reasons why I think I would be well suited to fill the big shoes of the MAAST Vice President.

I am very happily married to my high school sweetheart and the father of 6 children ranging in ages from 3 to 24. I am a Desert Shield/ Desert Storm Vet having served in the 82nd Airborne Division as an Airborne Infantryman for 4 years after graduating high school in '88. Upon the completion of my service in the Army I got a job in the residential construction industry as an apprentice plumber. Within a few years I got my Journeyman's license and went on to obtain my Master's license in 2001. Later that same year I went into business myself in the extremely competitive Austin market. Almost 14 years later I still own the same successful business. Which has me commuting to Austin pretty much every day of the week from Floresville.

I've had aquariums since I was a little kid. I've always had a fascination with aquatic life. Along the way I would have make shift saltwater tanks stocked with critters I caught while on our family vacations at the coast as a kid. Guppy tanks, turtle tanks, crawfish tanks. I always had something "stinky" in my room. I set up my first tropical saltwater aquarium in 1996 which was an Oceanic 30 with a canister filter. I think I had it set up for about 8 months and just could not maintain a successful tank. Knowledge and technologies have come a very long way since the mid 90's. I jumped back in to the hobby about 20 months ago and now have three successful and thriving reef tanks including one that I am helping by 11 year old son maintain.

While I may not have as many months or years of experience in marine husbandry as many of my peers here on MAAST do, I do have an overwhelming passion ( if not addiction) to the hobby. Through my experiences, research, and talking with knowledgeable peers such as yourself, I have gained a wealth of knowledge which will continue to expand with more experience, research, and chatting with you all over some cold beer and bbq.

A few traits about myself that I believe will make me a successful MAAST Vice President are a very keen business sense. The ability to make decisions under pretty much any given scenario. The ability to work with and lead an extremely diverse group of people. And of course as us all, a passion for the hobby. Over the last couple of months I have started taking the initiative to reinstate some past programs, started working on the reform of our committees which if followed through with will open many doors to new programs and benefits for our members, as well as numerous other tasks. I have the passion for the club to follow through with these programs and many more to come as well as take in ALL member feedback to make our club and site a place where everyone feels comfortable chatting about their tanks, seeking emergency help, just chewing the cud in the lounge, and even getting back to the back yard barbeques at Big_Puns house (I really need to try that famous burn and turn he keeps boasting about).

In closing, all I want is to be given the opportunity to follow through with all of the wishes, concerns, and ideas that you the membership have tasked we the BOD to follow through with.

nanoreefer11 has my vote.

I know I'm not on here often but I do love the reefing community. Maast has always been a place where I go when I want to get a for sure answer to a question or a great read from knowledgeable people. Maast is a great place for reefers to help reefers, but no one is really too excited for anything too far beyond the forums. I had purchased things from Zack in the past and every time I dealt with him it made me want to make my tank better. He would always be more than willing to share any thing he had, from information to supplies. I always felt like I left his house with a goodie bag of things he would be excited to let me try. Every time I talk with him about Maast, whether it be when I first met him or catching him at a pet store last week, he's showed a lot of passion about Maast and its future. I don't speak for everyone, but I feel Maast has become a little stagnant. We need new fresh ideas to bring everyone together. The old/current ideas are good but more excitement and incentive is going to be what is drawing enough interest for people to actually follow through in participating beyond the forums. I think Zack has great ideas for trying to bring some fresh life to Maast, and I'd be really interested to see what he could do.

WOW you gals n guys! :blushing: I’m honored & very much surprised. lol

For those who I haven’t gotten the pleasure to meet, I am your current Secretary on the BOD. Here is A little about me:

My journey with MAAST began in March of 2008; mostly due to my husband Roscozman (Ross) he said he wanted a saltwater tank. Ha Ha. After careful research about the hobby and a referral to MAAST, we joined as Charter Members, then shortly thereafter I was elected for the BOD & Interim Secretary that same year. In 2010 I served as the VP standing next to Ace-Hobogato as President. We got so much accomplished, it was an awesome feeling. I have also served as the Chair for the POTM, Newsletter & Sponsorship committees.

It’s been an amazing ride, lifelong lesson and beautiful journey. I may not have a big tank as nice as before but the friendships, knowledge & stories I have gained from MAAST are plentiful.

With that being said, I will gladly accept your nomination(s) to run for MAAST President. I look forward to seeing MAAST prosper and grow much more in the future.

Again Thank you! Hugs to all.
