I am in the need of some more chaeto, I have only one bag worth in my sump, I really would like more, thought it would grow faster that what it has.

what size tank? honestly if it's not growing then adding more will not help. if this ball isn't growing then another will just starve also. what kinda light do run over it, and how long.
I started with a small chunk and run my light 24/7

Display is a 120 or a 125, sump is 55. I think a little more than half of the sump is a fuge. It was originally lighted with a fluorescent tube, which with that I did not see any growth with the chaeto. About a month ago I got a clip on LED that has blue light spectrum and white light spectrum. I run the white light around 8 - 10 hours a day, and the blue light the rest of the time. I have seen some growth with this led, but not alot. I dont think it is starving, since it is growing, just growing very slowly.
This is the one I got: http://www.amazon.com/Finnex-Might-Light-White-Blue/dp/B00480QDBI/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top Got it from a guy off of FB on a trade for a tube anemone.

Try running the light 24/7

The cheato will grow in relation to your excess nutrients. So, slow growing cheato means you have a pretty clean tank and is a good thing :)

I noticed mine took off after adding a small power head to my fuge..... And i only run my fuge light for 10hours in reverse to my display...

a more powerful light will help, that light is a lil weak IMO. also run it 24/7. I've been using marinelands hide a led light and it grows cheato well.

Guess that will go on the list as well for upgrades to the tank. I am in the process of slowly upgrading my tank according to my finances.

That is actually what I am doing, sorry, the info up above is wrong (that I posted earlier, was very tired when I typed it, my DT lights are on 8 - 10 hours a day, and my fuge is in reverse like yours is.

I agree with jcnkt_ellis, since it's not dying off but actually growing just at a slow rate. Also, from what I read online, chaeto grows best with a light spectrum of about 5-6000kelvin
I have Home Depot clip on with 5k on mine and it grows crazy

Mine grew rapidly when I added a rapid LED Onyx fixture a year ago and last few months the cheato growth has slowed down a lot

True, i used a cheapo clamp on with flood light, pc light, wave point led... And nothing grew the cheato as fast as my AI nano...
I use mostly the white leds and just tiny bit of blue.... But it took off after the swap.... More so when i added a mj 600 down there.....
