Hello everyone!
I wanted to get everyone's input on this meeting. For years we've done the Port Aransas collection trip. It's seemed that participation for this event has dropped dramatically over the last couple years. It was brought up in our Board of Directors meeting that maybe we should ask the members what they would like to do. I agree.
There are several options we've done and we are willing to entertain new and exciting ideas as well. Please speak up and let us know what y'all think and want! You can post here or pm any of us.
Here are some ideas.
Port A collection trip
Seaworld tour
San Antonio zoo tour

The zoo tour a few years back is one of my favorite times at a maast event.

Zoo would be fun...
I vote sea world, only cause its local and it would be nice if we could get a group tour of behind the reef/shark area....
A lot of us cannot take off to the coast but sea world should be doable for most of us.......
I know someone has a sea world connect on here!!.... I will be willing to pay a fee for the tour too.

A fee or THE fee? I'm down for almost anything when it's not on my dime. Personally I'm cool with either. Hey Ben, didn't you win the MACNA tickets at the zoo trip?

I think all 3 are great! I personally want to do a collection trip since I never have. I think for most people local activities would be best for a bigger turnout.

I used to love going to Woodlawn lake. I'd be out there every other weekend.

What if as part of the Port A weekend trip, we offer a day trip option(long day) to Port A, with a couple MAAST vans we rented for the weekend. We drive down in the morning, do the beach or whatever, maybe a daytime collection, dinner, meeting, night time collection and drive home. That way we all stay together as a group, MAAST pays the van and gas, so it is cheaper for familys/people. The people who want to drive themselves can, including those who want to stay. This gives an option for those who don't/ can't stay overnight.
This year, I am hoping we have some more experienced collectors lead the collection excursions. Kristy and I were the "seasoned ones" from last year and I think several other younger and fitter members would have been better.

i really really like mike's idea, that would be wonderful for those of us that simply don't have the funds to drop $250-300 on a trip down to the coast (hotel, gas, road food, supplies)in the middle of the summer. My only concern would be what to do during the hottest part of the day. Of course, there is always the tank tour type thing, or a visit to the local fish shops there, i'm sure they'd appreciate the patronage. I'll drive my van for gas money, and multiple vans would allow for separate excursions, for whatever anybody wanted to do. Anyone in the backseats could watch Pocahontas, or whatever other disney movie i have in the changer. I have room for 7, but 6 people and their gear seems more logical.

You could always just camp out on the beach, that will save on motel/hotel cost.
