Picked up this tank a while back. Been sitting on it for a while. Finally decided to do something about it. Got an itch this past weekend and decided to toss together a stand. Love the way it turned out. Going to do some would etching on the front and sides to take up some of that free space. The red cedar smells amazing. Hope that sticks around for a while. So it begins... again.

Thanks, Kristy. I'm actually happy with how it came out. No Ace made. But I'm happy with it.

Very nice sir. It looks similar to the stand Sherita built. I really like that natural look. A stand like that would be awesome for a iwagami (s?) tank. I know, shame on me for mentioning fresh water!

Ha ha. No worries Ramsey, The natural wood look would go with a grown out FW. But I was actually thinking about going that route with the big 190. A large FW would be a million times easier to take care of than a large SW. Army keeps me busy. Way busy. So I am going to completely automate this little guy so I can set it and forget it other than feedings and water changes.

I hear you dude. I was replacing bulkheads in my 185 when setting it back up and I laid under the stand for a good 15 minutes just looking up at the tank and thinking how awesome and how much easier and cheaper it would be to remove the overflows, plug up the bulkheads and do a giant planted tank with a billion neon tetras. BUT! I've never had a tank that wasn't a coral tank so why start now? :P

Yeah. I can't have corals here which kills me ha ha. So I may go planted. Still only a crazy idea currently. Probably going to break the big tank down...

Got it all water tight and running. Got a couple chunks of dry rock glued together. Got some reef grade substrate in. Wave box is dialed it (trying to post a video). Still need to dial the drain in better so it's a little quieter. Finishing the canopy tomorrow. No snags so far.

Got the canopy frame done. Recessed the hydra on top of the canopy. Was tricky to do without a router. Also got in the sca-302 I ordered. A lot of places on island don't carry good equipment. Or charge an arm an a leg for it cause they corner the market. I have to order everything from online. Would much rather give my business locally. But they won't budge on the prices. Just waiting on controller, chiller and doser. And it to cycle as well.

Looking good dude! Does the hydra give off that purple tint in person or is it the camera? I really like the color it's giving off.

It's not as purple in person. It's definitely has a purple tint to it though. Just not to the extent it is with the camera. Appreciate it guys. Surprised of the spread on the hydra. Covers the whole tank.

Did some more rock work the other night and plopped it in today. Happy with the over hang and shelf. Pretty well balanced. Tossed some LR in the sump from my big tank to help things along and as well some zoas that are growing like weeds under the halides on the big tank. Just to be the Canary to get the tank going.

I would like to do a planted tank as well. That's what everyone does here and some of them are very appealing. Might have to try my hand before I leave the island.

I know this isn't exciting for most people. But this is my first chiller. I normally use a fan to cool my tanks. But AC is non existent here. So I must adapt and over come. Especially on this small tank. http://img.tapatalk.com/d/14/04/03/tu2e5any.jpg

And I just signed up for Amazon Prime. Definitely a necessity out here for free shipping. May not be 2 days. But 3 to 7 is still good for me.

Whats the normal temp out there? Why not just order a fan? A chiller will work but i heard energy prices are high out there......

Is it in case of emergency? Or is the tanks temp high?

It's for incase of emergency. I have a fan on it currently and will continue to run a fan. The fan kicks in at 80 and I'll have the chiller kick in at 81.5 or 82. During the summer it gets into the high 90s where I live and with no central AC it can get pretty toasty in the house. Plus while I'm gone for training it's going to be my CYA.

Numbers zeroed out a couple weeks ago and been adding fish over the past week. They are all happy, healthy and quite sociable. Zoas and feather duster are doing great as well. Can't have many colorful corals so I'm trying to get all pretty fish going. There are four in this pic. Can you spot all four?

Pay no attention to the decoration. It's for one of the fish until I can make him a rock cave.
