This DIY algae growing media bag thing doesn't seem to be working and the mandarins are starting to look small. I ran up to petco in hopes of them carrying some, but of course they didn't...

Check with Rob at Mr.Cobs Corals I also think elegant reef carries the bottled pods.

I assume these are the same mandarins you said came with the tank? Tank is not matured enough and seems is just not capable of sustaining a healthy pod population to feed your mandarins. I do believe Mr. Cob has pods or you can check with some places in town (Elegant Reef). Your going to have to buy bottled pods very often...or add a refugium!

For reference, I only have one mandarin in a 144 tank with about 200 pounds of live rock and the tank has been setup for years. My mandarin eats, but isn't overly fat....and this is just a single mandarin.

Yeah...

Looks like I might hsve to get rid of them. I have 100s of spirobis, but no copepods.

Tigerpods will work as food, but they are fee swimming copepods and will not breed on your tank.

I picked up some macro algae from 350gt a bit ago. Its sitting under a light inside the sump next to the bioballs. Hopefully there wiil be enough copes to feed them and start a healthy growth that will continue to grow pods.

I would probably still play it safe and get a bottle of pods if you can.

What am I looking for as far as pods in the macro. Only thing I can see is what looks to be a baby star fish. What can I do to increase the pods that are in the macro? I searched around on google, but I really couldn't find anything.

Just a waiting game really..... They will show up

They breed rapidly. As 350 said patience is the game . U can buy some pyhto only if u want them to breed fast unless ur tank is mature enough to produce much food for them to em happy and keep breeding

Yeah, its on naco, but I was talking more about everything and everyone being on the NE side minus anyone that has a fish tank. 90% of the people on maast lives on the NW side.

I'm about to place an order this weekend for a few thousand pods from Reefs2go. These pods are by far the best for your dollar. The tiny pods you get in the bottle are half dead and are usually cold water pods which I really doubt do much of any "seeding" in your tank. Let me know if you wanna go half on the shipping and we can arrange it. I think you get 2000+/- pods for $25. I have done about 3 orders with them, with only one order failing durng shipment which was replaced in a few days charge-free. Beware, these pods are freaking monsters.
