I went ahead and bought a new tank as I didn't have a lot of time fixing the tank I bought used.

Thanks Will! I'm glad it worked out for you. I'm pretty happy with the tank I got. I was trying to acquire some used tanks but there are variables that didn't worked out so I opt out with a new tank.

Can I ask a question pertaining to upgrading a tank. I currently have a 72 bow front and I am looking to move to a 125. When I get this new tank, I can just move everything over or do I have to re-cycle the new one?

Ideally, u would want to use new sand and maybe add some live rocks from ur existing tank. Depending on the sand u used u may have to wait for it to cycle. I used 100 lbs of new live sand and move some liverocks onto my new tank. Added some nitrifying bacteria for a week. Checked my parameters. Waited another week and started moving the corals. I did moved all liverocks and corals in one night then the fish and inverts the next day. Also, I made sure all parameters were close in between tanks. I didn't lose any livestock in the move so I guess my methods worked for me, at least. Good luck on ur upgrade.

Ok thanks. I was going to get all new sand and some base rock so I guess I would need to cycle it huh. Then move the live rock and corals over slowly?

Yes, cycle it. Waiting is half the battle. After the cycle u can wait a couple of days to make sure there won't be any spike and then u can move ur livestocks.

Very nice build going on.. I see in your pictures you are using black sand. Just a friendly word of warning do not use a mag float near it. It will pick up the sand and you will end up scratching the glass.
