Calcium 350

I have not been able to get my calcium above 350. Dosing Kalk, Alk is 12, pH is 8.2 there is no visible precipitation in DT. How can I get calcium up to where it should be?

RC has my calcium at 500, i havent been able to make it drop, nor have i really tried..

Kalk shouldn't be used to raise levels and especially if you're attempting to raise one parameter. Here's what I would do:

A large water change. Wait for a day or so and see where your big 3 are at. Dose magnesium until you hit the 1200ish range--this may take up to a couple if weeks depending in how low you are. Then dose calcium to your desired range--again slowly over a period of time. Sounds like your alk is in line for a mixed reef. Reef crystals should mix at roughly 1260, 420,12. I would try to match your parameters to this. Once your big three are in line, wait a week and test again--before a water change-- to see what your system used up. Test again after your water change to see if the water change was enough to bring your levels back in line. That should determine your need to dose and what to dose. I suspect regular water changes will keep up with your system demand. HTH

Thanks. I just did water change on Saturday usually only 20% but I want to bring that up to 30%. I will test Mag when I get home. What is the suggested method to dose mag?

Now you can raise your calcium. Don't dose for alk if its at 12 already.

Calcium up to 380 today. Dosed again hoping to to 410. I would be happy there

Checked calcium last night and went back down to 350. Scratchin my head on this one. Guess I will continue to dose.

Must have done something wrong with the test day before yesterday. Last mights test hit 450.
