filter sock question

Is it a good idea to have the filter sock in the same chamber as the skimmer? Im building a new refugium and want to have it in the right spot. As of right now they are in the same area in the refugium.

I think you would just not want it in with the return pump to elimante possible micro bubbles and not in the refugium section (if you have one) as to not suck up pods etc.. Sock chamber would be ideal in my opinion.
