Hmm. I posted a few possible ideas:
Fish: OK, this is where it gets fun. Have to haves: My favorite angelfish is a Rock Beauty. Very hard to get to eat (they only eat sponges in the wild), but I’ve been successful before. Like to have: Marine Betta (And, no, it’s pronounced “bet-ah”, it’s NOT “bay-tuh” – that’s a greek letter, not a fish). A puffer of some sort. They are just so comical. Maybe a boxfish, but they are poisonous when they die. Flame Hawk. Very cool and fun fish. Angler? Dwarf angel: maybe a Flame, maybe a lemon peel. Might also try an additional large angel, probably another Emperor, maybe a rare one. The Rock Beauty is a Holacanthus angel, a different genus. My last one was from the Red Sea, I think. Tangs: Hmm. I just don’t know. They are such a pain in the tail. A school of yellows are nice, but they have no personality. I love Kole Eyes. Maybe. Won’t do a Sohal again. Just way too mean. I mean, evil mean. I’d love to do an Achilles, but they are hard to keep, and can be as nasty as a Sohal. So, not sure here. Maybe a Powder Blue. Loved my old one. Sohal killed it. One shot. My pair of clowns I’ve had forever would go in. OK, I’ll step over the line here: The RBTAs will likely go in the tank too – I can’t give them up! Harlequin Tusk – yeah. Maybe some wrasses, but likely not with a bare bottom. Butterfly fish: Latticed Butterfly, Copperband, maybe Racoon. Maybe a pair of Manderins. Any other thoughts would be appreciated. It has to be a cool fish with personality. NO LIONFISH or other poisonous ones. No “saltwater Oscars” either (groupers, sharks, eels, etc.).

Just a thought Bill, since you are keeping it FOWLR and you say you like the kole tang, we strategically added a kole tang to Mike's FOWLR because it's one of the bristle tooth tangs and is great about keeping the rocks clean with grazing (no way we could keep snails and only the big hermits survive for a while in that tank). Something is working, whether it is the kole tang or the two angels (an emperor and a centropyge) because that tank is ridiculously easy to keep clean, especially given all the big eaters in there.
Would you consider a trigger?

Bill is that the same glass bottle from before? From the SPS days? That's classic if it is! Can't wait to see it all come together.

Hey Alton, that is a very cool website. Thanks for sharing. Need to see what shipping runs, but could be an order in our future.

Thanks, Alton, that's a great website. If they sell Rock Beauties that are eating, that's the big hurdle. They eat only sponges in the wild.
Probably no triggers. I'm just not fond of them, because they can turn on other fish. They hunt by picking eyes out of fish. Then they can easily kill and eat them.
Yes, if it's an Emporer, it will be a Red Sea.
And yes, Rob. Same bottle. Came from my brother's farm.

What did shipping cost for your rock beauty Alton? That's a pretty cool website, they have some interesting fish.

There shipping is like $40, probably better to get a group buy to split cost. Bill sorry I partially Hi Jacked your thread with KP Aquatics. KP stands for Kara and Philip, Kara is a daughter of Ken Nedimyer who owned sea life inc. They only collect what they feel has the best chance for survival. They also do custom orders and collections.

Alton, thanks for the hijack! Seriously, good info.
Mike and Kristy: What is the salinity of your FO tank? I'm thinking of keeping it on the low side.

Here are some pics. For those of you that might have missed this, I picked up some of Allan's fish, along with a RBTA that he'd been banking for me. Yes, I know that the diatoms are still persistent. But the clean up crew from JJ has certainly helped out. I set up ozone on the tank on Sunday evening. Wow, it really turned the water crystal clear!

Look closely. Between all of those snails is a piece of SPS that Allan and Ben put into my bucket when I wasn't looking. Yes, it's still alive...

Woohoo, that one piece of sps is the start of something amazing coming back to life : )
Hey Bill, what's your PH staying at with ozone? I've been thinking about this with one of my SPS systems. Just curious.

Jeez, Rob. Don't ask those kinds of questions... I .... have no idea. I have a pH probe on it, but it's not calibrated, and it's old. I have a new one on the way.
That being said, I'm not sure of the benefit of ozone EXCEPT to clear the water, by oxidizing organics. For SPS, I'd think you would want those organics in the water column - I think ozone can make the water too clean. But, I have mine on a very low setting.

Lol, was curious...been chasing PH on my sps system. I was thinking about adding ozone to help keep PH up... even though most suggest not to chase PH and just make sure alk, mag and calcium are in balance.

Amen to that! Every problem I've ever had with sps color can be traced back to low alk and water that is too clean.
Don't chase the ph dragon Rob. I've seen successful tanks running at 7.8 all the way to up to 8.4. They key is a good alk level that deters ph swings.

Thx Cory... Yeah, I stopped buffering last week and I'm staying at 7.8ph with alk, mag and calcium in check.
Bill where's the rest of the system? How about under that tank? : )

Sorry Bill, just saw your question. Of course I have no clue. I mix the saltwater and test salinity in it before water changes, but as long as it stays in the green zone I don't worry about it. We use the same water on all 3 tanks. Sorry not much help.

Rob, i once tried to chase pH. Don't worry about it as long as the others are OK.
