Ok I just got my skimmer today, not really the type I wanted since I am trying to prepare for a bigger tank, however because of the eel and the porcupine puffer I have in there I really needed a skimmer now. Its a HOB SeaClone, http://www.drsfostersmith.com/product/prod_display.cfm?c=3578+4392+4400&pcatid=4400, . Seems to be working fine. I just have two problems with it so far. One is that it is loud, however I read somewhere that if I re-seat the impeller it would take care of the noise problem. Then there is the amount of micro bubbles that it puts back into my tank. Is there a way to take care of this?

I used to have one of those. I was never able to completely rid myself of the micro bubbles. The best result I had was by putting some filter floss in the output.

Thanks I will try that out. Do you know if Louis over at ER has any?

I would assume so. It's just the regular blue filter floss.

Oh I am going to be there, just wanted to know if I needed to go anywhere else tomorrow. Have to go by Dipan's house and pick up the lawnmower blenny, then back home to acclimate him. Then I should be off to ER then.

I use to have one of those and I attached a fine mesh filter bag to the output. Left a large opening at the top and the bubbles would collect in the bag and release large bubbles out the top. Worked kinda like a airline near the surface.
