Dude, your spending a fortune on water! Have you considered something like the mighty mite from Air water and ice?

Buy your own rodi system. Then you will always have water when you need it, and you will know for sure that the water is pure.

Before getting an RODI, we used to use windmill water. There are several around town. I think it was 35 cents a gallon or 1.25 for 5 gallons. Most HEB and Walmarts have water machines also.

Just putting in my 2 cents here, but when I am in a urgent need for water and the LFS is already closed or it happens to be on a day they dont sell water, I go to HEB and pick up the 1 gallons of Purified Water. Its like 70 cents per gallon this way. TDS readings on them are between 6 and 10.

+1 I prefer to use RO/DI but tap water and prime is fine. I've used it many times with no ill effect. I use it when setting up a new tank too since you're going to fowl the water when cycling anyway. Just make sure not to use a garden hose (there are chemicals in it that keeps it pliable that may leech) and run a couple of gallons down the sink before you collect the water to get stale water out of the lines. There are plenty of successful reef tanks on tap water.

I filled up my current tank with a water hose. Primed it in the tank.
